Matt Barter
Bio
Matt Barter
Matt Barter lives in Brunswick Maine with his wife Rebekah and two boys. Together they updated a carriage house on their property using reclaimed barn boards and turned it into a studio/gallery. In the upstairs Matt Barter paints and sculpts. The downstairs is where he exhibits new works. As a teenager Matt studied with his father, Philip, working in his studio in Sullivan Maine he learned the mechanics of oil painting. He also worked with his father at a young age on various commercial fishing boats, lobster, mussel harvesting etc, which shaped his style and focus on the working harbors of Maine. Coming soon to the Barter Arthouse in 2020 a sculpture garden featuring large installed pieces.
